Tenerife Excursions

Spain is still Britain's favorite holiday destination and not-surprisingly the Canary Islands remain high on the list of vacation hot spots.

Tenerife with its year-round promise of warm weather is ideal in summer or winter and offers such a wealth of activities, excursions and natural attractions that it is not surprising that the island attracts a large percentage of return visitors.

Whether your idea of the perfect holiday is to laze on a beach or round a magnificent swimming pool or to scale the heights of El Pico de Teide, the highest mountain in Spain (and the third largest volcano on earth), go whale and dolphin watching or enjoy a sail round the island in an old clipper, hike round the hills, go rock-climbing, diving, golfing or dine in lovely restaurants and dance till the sun comes up, Tenerife offers all this and more.

There is a great contrast between the cool, lush north and hotter, drier south of the island and Tenerife is known for the diversity of its ecosystems.

The difference is not only climatic. Those who like to explore history will enjoy a tour of Santa Cruz with its old buildings, strong maritime connections an many museums. Santa Cruz also offers excellent shopping opportunities with some brands that you will find on any British high street selling at greatly reduced prices here.

In the south, the focus is less on history and more on fun. You can enjoy, world-class shows, indulge in fabulous food from an astonishing range of international restaurants, party all night, or get moving with the wide range of water sports, excursions and activities.

Children are very well catered for in Tenerife. The water parks and theme parks dotted around the south and the fantastic Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz are very popular. The breath-taking eagle show in Aguilas Park, a few minutes out of Los Cristianos is a big favorite.
